چکیده
Palm oil mill effluent (POME), wastewater discharged from the palm refinery industry, is classified as an environmental pollutant. In this work, a heterogeneous catalytic process for biojet fuel or green kerosene production was investigated. The enzymatic hydrolysis of POME firstly performed in order to obtain hydrolysed (HPOME) rich free fatty acid (FFA) content. variations water content (30 50), temperature 60 °C) and agitation speed (150 250 rpm) were evaluated. optimal condition reaction obtained at 50% v/v content, 40 °C 200 rpm. highest FFA yield (Y FA) 90% obtained. Subsequently, HPOME converted into hydrocarbon fuels via hydrocracking catalysed by Pd/Al2O3 400 °C, 10 bars H2 1 h under high pressure autoclave reactor (HPAR). refined-biofuel (94%) selectivity (57.44%) achieved. study, we are first group successfully demonstrate waste valorisation towards renewable based on biochemical thermochemical routes. can be applied sustainable management waste. It promises value-added product parallel alleviation issues.

Electrocoagulation of Palm Oil Mill Effluent
Electrocoagulation (EC) is an electrochemical technique which has been employed in the treatment of various kinds of wastewater. In this work the potential use of EC for the treatment of palm oil mill effluent (POME) was investigated. In a laboratory scale, POME from a factory site in Chumporn Province (Thailand) was subjected to EC using aluminum as electrodes and sodium chloride as supporting...
متن کاملTurning waste to wealth-biodegradable plastics polyhydroxyalkanoates from palm oil mill effluent – a Malaysian perspective
Palm oil industries have been contributing significantly towards the country’s economy and increase standard of living among Malaysians. However, it has also been identified as the major contributor for discharging the largest pollution load throughout the country. Owing to high biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD), the palm oil mill effluent (POME) cannot be dischar...
متن کاملProduction of Biogas from Palm Oil Mill Effluent at Pilot Scale: Effect of Recycle Sludge
An anaerobic digestion of palm oil mill effluent (POME) for production of biogas was carried out at pilot scale under thermophilic condition. The objective of this research is to maintain short hydraulic retention time (HRT) and high degradation of the POME to biogas by applying recycle sludge. Fresh POME from PTPN IV without further treatment was used as feed. The fermentation process occurred...
متن کاملA Review of Palm Oil Mill Effluent (Pome) Water Treatment
Palm oil is one of the two most important vegetable oils in the world’s oil and fats market. The extraction and purification processes generate different kinds of waste generally known as palm oil mill effluent (POME). The environmental impact of POME cannot be over emphasized; hence the need for treatment measures to reduce these impacts before discharge. Therefore, this paper reviews the proc...
متن کاملElectrocoagulation of Palm Oil Mill Effluent for Treatment and Hydrogen Production Using Response Surface Methodology
Palm oil mill effluent from the palm oil processing industry has been documented as a cause of severe damages to aquatic systems and a significant increase in greenhouse gases. This study was designed to use electrocoagulation for the pre-treatment of palm oil mill effluent to simultaneously reduce the pollutants and produce hydrogen gas. In this research, response surface methodology was appli...
